does abstract in apa format include citations
It is not entirely unreasonable to include a citation in an abstract, if the reason you are citing it is because your paper is a major extension, rebuttal, or counterpoint to the cited article.
I’d like to know your opinion on citations in abstracts. At my university, there is no rule on that matter so it’s basically a question of preference.

For MLA style
Note that the source you are citing is an abstract of a longer article. This information should appear in brackets. For example: [Abstract].
List the name of the author by placing the last name first followed by a comma. Include the initial of the author’s first name followed by a period. For example: Smith, J.
The article record will include the author names, article title, journal name, volume, issue number, page range, and DOI (if available). The article record should includes the abstract for the article, if one is available.
In the library databases, you can find the citation information for an article on the article record page.

- Margins: 1 inch
- Paragraphs: All paragraphs (except the Abstract) should be indented.
- Spacing: All of the text in your paper should be double-spaced.
