Fostering Good Campus Relations
There are two Acts which are relevant to university leaders’ efforts to avoid tensions on campus. Their details can be found at:
The Government’s advice on the issue has been published by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) under the title Promoting Good Campus Relations, Fostering Shared Values and Preventing Violent Extremism in Universities and Higher Education Colleges.
In addition, general advice on promoting good campus relations, which gives details of the above Acts, can be found in the updated Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) report, Promoting Good Campus Relations: An Institutional Imperative. The Inter Faith Network for the UK (IFNUK) have also made available the transcript of their conference on Building Good Relations on Campus and have produced a short advice booklet entitled Looking After One Another: The Safety and Security of our Faith Communities.

Details on the nature and prevalence of contemporary anti-Semitism is documented in the All-Party Parliamentary Group against Antisemitism’s Report of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism. The report also addresses the specific question of anti-Semitism on university campuses.
The European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUC) has produced a report on discrimination and hatred against Muslims entitled Muslims in the European Union: Discrimination and Islamophobia. It offers a definition of Islamophobia on p. 61.
