Religious Literacy Leadership Workshops

Two one-day workshops took place in London and York during September and October 2010. The sessions were designed to explore the practical challenges and opportunities, supporting senior HE leaders and managers to put in place excellent policies and practices, which enhance their ‘offer’ to students and staff.

These workshops were intended for senior staff in key operational roles including: heads of academic departments; chaplaincies; student services; admissions and registry; exams and timetabling; student counselling; catering, food, bars and accommodation; student financial services; NUS executives.

These events were part of a wider programme, which also offered Workshops to Vice Chancellors and Principals.

Participants engaged with critical, thoughtful input from the leading thinkers on religion in the public sphere, and worked through carefully researched case study materials to think through concrete responses to real-life practical challenges. Participants had an opportunity to reflect and discuss issues and potential solutions in their institution on:

  • Engaging with faith communities
  • Developing the quality of conversation
  • Supporting religious students
  • Why equalities matter.

A wide range of publications, briefing papers and resources supporting events and the programme is available on Leadership resources page.
