Conference: ‘Having Faith– Adding Value’
The summative conference for the Religious Literacy Leadership Programme was held on 7 February in Woburn House, London. The event explored the potential value added in HEIs by engagement with issues of religious faith. In particularly, the conference sessions examined the processes, impacts and experiences of developing strategy in relation to religion in higher education settings and included show-cases of good practice including:
• Setting up religion and belief working groups
• Faith-related community engagement
• Measuring and monitoring impacts
• Devising effective equality policies and practices relating to religion and belief
• Developing initiatives to promote good campus relations and avoid extremism.
The keynote speakers were:
- Professor David Ford, Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Cambridge
- Professor Grace Davie, Emerita Professor of the Sociology of Religion at the University of Exeter
- Professor Geoffrey Crossick, Vice Chancellor at the University of London
